The Costa
Brava |
|
The Costa Brava is a
coastal region of
north-eastern Catalonia,
Spain, in the comarques
of Alt Empordà, Baix
Empordà and La Selva, in
the province of Girona.
Costa is the Catalan and
Spanish word for
'coast', and Brava means
'rugged' or 'wild'. The
Costa Brava stretches
from Blanes, 60km
northeast of Barcelona,
to the French border.
This is the Costa Brava;
it’s so called because
of its steep, rocky
terrain which has
prevented it from being
spoilt. It has
beautiful: green pines
cascading down to the
deep blue sea, the coast
is filled with small
coves, long, sandy
beaches, seared by the
intense light of the
Mediterranean Sun.
